2005 Ford GT twin turbo. Built by Dallas Performance, and hit 215 in the Texas Mile this year (in around 20 seconds!) and as far as the owner knows, the only 200+ mph car that was driven to the event.

This car gets driven regularly, definitely no garage queen. The owner has new wheels and tires on the way, plus a photo-shoot in a few days so he wanted it cleaned up.

Did I mention he drives it?

Not much of a Ferrari fan...

The right rear fender had been repainted and not buffed out all that well, the rest of the car had light to moderate spider swirls and it took quite a bit of claying with Opti-Clay to get the grit off the car.

I just gave the engine a quick wipe-down (really wasn`t very dirty anyway) with ONR.

Tires/fenderwells cleaned with ONR, dressed with Armor All.

I started off with Meguiars #205 and a yellow Meguiars polishing pad using my Dewalt 849 rotary. Removed the holograms the body shop left behind, the spider swirls, not so much. Since I only had one day to do the car, I went with the KB method using my Meguiars G110, a burgundy Meguiars cutting pad and #105. Primed the pad well, then cranked it up to 6 and did several slow, heavy pressure passes. Really did a nice job knocking out the swirls. Unfortunately, the car ended up in the shadows of the building it was parked by so I couldn`t get any sun shots until the car was completely finished.

After cutting the swirls using the KB method, I went back to my Dewalt and the original #205/yellow pad combo and went over the whole car at 1000-1200 rpms. Why the rotary and not continue with the PC? I live using my rotary and #205 works amazingly well with it. No dusting and it feels like the pad is on ball bearings it is so smooth. I then switched to 3M Ultrafina using a blue Ultrafina pad at 1000-1800-1000 rpms. The paint was protected by Clearkote`s Carnauba Moose and the glass cleaned with Quikshine.

Interior was pretty clean overall, vacuumed it, wiped it down with an ONR dampened MF towel. Seats dressed with Leather Master`s Leather Vital, rest of the interior with Meguiars Interior Quick Detailer.

    Now, the videos...

Too much traffic for any quick bursts, other than getting on the freeway and going from 50 to 160 in maybe 10 seconds...and I didn`t have my camera ready for that blast.

    That car is sick!

Love it that the driver drives the car a lot too! The Supra that hit 240+ was trailered and the Dodge magnum that hit 190+ was trailered too [but it came from Florida, LOL]

Next time we`ll try to set up a Sunday appointment so there is a little more space to accelerate. Even at triple digits, it feels as if the acceleration never lets up. As you pass cars, it looks like they are being flung behind you.

The fact that my friend in his magnum was going 155ish at the half mile and still gained 40+mph in the last half mile, while already going 155 is insane. I wouldn`t be able to fathom the speed in that FordGT [or be able to hold the steering wheel without shaking at those speeds]. Gotta love those turbos

Awesome car, and it only looks better after you got done with it.

Next year should be interesting at the Texas mile, twin turbo and supercharged GT with 1500 hp, plus some other interesting cars.
