I`m trying to figure out what your concern is here. If you truly thought it was funny, then you must think that others might not and that it would affect Todd`s reputation. If that were true then you must be worried about Todd`s reputation as a "so called high end detailer" so why then would you call him out on a public forum to let him know you think his post was immature? I suspect that you didn`t really think his post was funny and that your real motivation is to let us all know that you would have handled it differently and therefore are more of a professional than he is. Of course, I could be wrong.

Lastly, I have to wonder why this thread hasn`t been locked. :lock:

I can appreciate you sticking up for somebody you may or may not know because of your relationship through the forums. There is no need question Todd`s maturity level. He posted what he posted and take it as you may, that`s it. I never questioned it nor will I. But since you feel the need to support Todd, would it have been that much harder for him to PM the photo to a group instead of trying to clown the OP? If you feel the need to question my maturity level I encourage you to do so.

I want to start by saying that to say the absolute least it is truly embarrassing being a young detailer myself to know that the OP of this thread chose to come to the US under the pretense of being someone else(IMO both his fault and the car owners for not clarifying who was who) and do less than admirable work not to mention without any kind of work clearance. He chose what he chose and it will eventually it will catch up to him somehow.

True automotive detailing to begin with is the type of work that is constantly deranged by individuals that are typically referred to as "hacks" on these boards. And while I`m not saying the OP is or isn`t a "hack", I have no idea, I am saying it clearly would have been more appropriate to go about doing business in the US differently, not to mention a different choice when it came to the actual process on this car as shown by the damage done.

I speak for myself when I say I do not have a concern of anyone`s reputation but my own. You build and burn your own bridges. Obviously I chose to go about it a different way as I sat back and let the thread unfold without any input allowing everyone who posted to show some true color be it "mature" or "immature". Would I have sat and made fun of a detailer in my area(or in online forums) who may have completely embarrassed himself or heavily tainted his career on these online boards from the quality of work or his professional decisions? Not a chance. Do I think individuals that put on the heavy impression that they strive to be a completely professional mature detailer should have refrained from some of the comments and posts shown on these boards? Well, I know my personal choice. Before being a detailer, as an adult, is it considered professional or even adult-like to clown someone (especially someone younger than you) publicly? I will continue to take my own high road and continue to let this thread unfold.

OMG Barry! How dare you try to hurt this hacks feelings? :nervous:

As you can see from the last few pages, some here think we should all feel sorry for this hack.

This hack cost the owner of this car over $10,000. So don`t pick on him.

He works with me now, I have a 90/10 split with him.

I book the jobs and let him do all the work while I sit back and sip tea... sweet deal for me!

I talk to him all the time. He says hello to everyone in this thread showing their support and would like more people to hate Todd. He`s actually going to start a detailing forum and would like everyone to participate actively when it gets going. He`s hoping to do another US tour next spring and has a pretty large list of prespects started so far. Oh, and he`ll be fully insured this time.

I`m sitting at work, and not much is happening so i read this 13 page thread, LOL, that`s funny stuff, even if the drama has been over for quite a while. One thing, Todd goofing on that jerk WAS funny, if you didn`t get it or disagree, F off ok.

I grew up farming with my uncles (both WWII vets) and if you screwed up, you were the butt of many jokes to come for weeks. I learned a lot about respect, thinking before acting, and grew a thick skin and all those things helped me later on in life.

That`s one thing wrong with the youth of today, there`re a bunch of momma`s boys that can`t have their widdle feelins hurt. Poor `````es!

[Old thread gets resurrected and two sorta-grumpy guys kick around "kids these days..." BS, wasting bandwidth...]

Noting that I`m awfully touchy-feely with regard to hurting peoples` feelings (and if somebody doesn`t like *THAT* then, well, they can #^<% off :chuckle: )....

JuneBug- Heh heh, yeah, "thinking before acting" does seem sorta rare these days, huh? You mentioned guys from the Greatest Generation (and yeah, I truly do believe that)....it seems to me that in the past people had to deal with more things involving "irrevocable actions" whereas today there`s a prevailing mindset of "just hit the restart button".

I think I`ve mentioned before how in my household the catchphrase is " `et by Ba`rs" (translation: "eaten by bears"), meaning that in the past Darwinism was a lot more *real*; if you were stupid/careless/foolish you got dead in a hurry, so people were more careful about not [screwing] up and that bled over into noncritical areas of endeavor as well. "I`m not a screw-up" meant something, and people knew the diff between true self-esteem and today`s "selfish steam" that everyone seems to feel entitled to.

Holden-C04 displayed a bit of that selfish steam. Then he [screwed] up, and he got `et by b`ars. At least he`s not really dead, so he can learn from his mistakes and redeem himself. I for one wouldn`t bash on him if he reappeared here (a little wiser).
