This beauty was one of the scratchiest cars I`ve done! And, the clear coat was hard as heck. Compounding didn`t seem to work the scratches out, so I used 3M Trizact 3000 pads on the air orbital. Whoa....I ended up using 4 pads on this car (to the tune of $32 in Trizact pads).

Here`s a sampling of the finish I started with:

    Wetsanding and partial compounding

And...just when you think you are done, an alcohol wipedown reveals some leftover sanding haze...grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

So, a couple of "do-over`s" later, I finished the sides

After compounding with wool and foam, I used Menzerna 106FA as a polish

I power washed between each step: First to remove any compound and polish dusting and Second to check for any wetsanding haze I missed. I did find a few places and re-compounded those areas

Finally, I applied a heavy coat of Meguiar`s #26 and left it on the car overnight. Today, I powerwashed the car with the wax still on the surface and used some new Cobra plush towels to dry/remove the wax.

The car is now ready for a new owner!

Now, I`ve only got 3 more Black Bimmers to start on.....

    Great work toto!

It`s amazing that even compounds will fill to high heaven on super hard clears. It`s amazing at what alcohol will remove and reveal.

Haze can be a real bear to remove after wet sanding! The compounding residue hides it well. The IPA wipe down will definitely show you where you`ve not removed it.

I even found a 2" spot on the fender lip flat that I missed and that was after I finished waxing. Had to go back over that spot. Frustrating, but the finish is ultra nice now and should remain that way for many years with proper care.
