I`ve been reading through a few of your details and especially like this one, that`s a very clean and shiny result, i`m interested on hearing what the new owner thought when he came for the finished article

One question though, re the rubber trims/seals.

Why did you degrease them first, and was it just a normal degreaser as you`d use on an engine?

And i can`t find that pro-shine product at all, could you give me the full name/somewhere to buy it?

    Thanks

    Dave.

90 ZR-1- Thanks! That would definitely compliment the car, but I think the owner is going to keep it just the way it is for now...

astralboy0- Thanks! I wasn`t expecting it to come out as good either...

    yomiuri- Thank you very much!!

    MaDMaXX- Thanks Dave!

The owner was in complete awe and didn`t know what to say when he first saw the car.

To answer your question, just a normal degreaser was used to clean them before the protectant was applied. It had years of build-up in all of the cracks & crevices which were in desperate need of cleaning. The Pro-Shine is a product that a local private detailing product distributor carries, which is why you were not able to find it anywhere.

Thanks for coming back, do you know of, or recommend an equivalent product that could be used on the rubber to do the same job?

unbelievable!!! Your hard work really shows itself in the end product, detailing skills such as yours should be written down and locked in a nuclear bomb proof safe and saved forever! Good job my friend!

I`ve been lurking around this forum for about a year and never signed up. Didn`t feel the need to because I could find all the information I needed without posting by using the search. After I saw this detail I just had to sign up and say that if you told me this car was sent back to Chevy, stripped down, sanded, primed, and repainted. I would have believed you.

I know this is an old thread, but I think it deserves a bump. What a great transformation of a great soon to be classic American sports car. I just watched Rick Hendricks pay $160k for an 89 ZR-1 that didn`t appear to be in as good a shape, last night on Barret Jackson.

That detail job probably increased the cars value a ton.

This was linked over to the Corvetteforum ZR-1 section and I was blown away!

I registered just to say. If you didn`t take a hundred thousand pictures I wouldn`t have believed that is original paint.

I own a 1994 ZR-1 and would love to have someone do that with mine, though mine is about halfway in between where you started with that one and where you ended up. The problem is I live in Houston, just a little far from you. I guess I am on my own, but I am glad I found this site. WOW

Would you treat a Black car any differently? I just try not to touch mine. It seems like any time I do I leave a mark somehow.

One question...one of the pics of the left rear qtr seems to look like the molding on the bumper doesn`t match the fender, is that just because of the angle and the light ?

    Handsdown to you RR,

I bought UDM at least a year and haven`t had a chance to learn the techniques and products. After I saw your work, I decided to sign up. Awesome work!
