Seems like I am on a run of very badly waterspotted cars lately!! I love the final result...but getting there is a lot of work!!

Got it washed and dried and that`s when I noticed the waterspots on the hood, the rear passenger side and the tailgate. They didn`t look that bad so I wasn`t too worried about them...until after I clayed the whole thing. Clay did nothing to them at all. So I started with SIP...nothing. Megs #85....nothing. A hammer and chisel....nothing!! so here we go again with wetsanding!! That part was fine...the fact that I couldn`t get the wetsanding marks out was the next big problem!!

Nothing I had would touch them. I was using 3000 unigrit and wasn`t pressing hard at all! It was all very wierd!! Something popped into my head about mixing polishes. First I tried SIP and #85 and it didn`t really make a difference. Then I tried OC and #85 and it was a little better. Then I tried 70%OP and 30% #85 and that was the ticket!! It was like the #85 was giving the OP more cut and the OP was giving the #85 a longer work time. Someone with mor experience can chime in with their thoughts on why this combo might have worked....but that`s what I came up with.

The rest of the detail was pretty normal........:xyxthumbs

You`re making alot more work for yourself by wetsanding those watermarks. I`ve had great succes by using an acid wash for water spots. I`ve yet to come across water spots that i can not get out with a simple acid wash.

Truck looks good by the way.

I dont know about acid wash (what product?) but I have a product available by a local company that saved my *** on about a 10hr Kenworth Waterspot job. Got it done in one hour. It`s just a liquid that`s rubbed on and wiped free..

Truck looks awesome though mose, terrific work!

What`s the stuff called Brandon? It sounds like the acid wash does more than just remove water spots though. It almost sounds like it, kind of, replaces claying? To some extent anyway. The acid part kinda scares me though. But I read a post that Accumulator did where has been doin it for a while now. So I might give it a shot. Whats the worst that could happen......I lose a few fingers and some paint falls off the car?? LOL!!!

Yeah, who needs the fingers and paint anyway, hmmm

Its from a local place called Majestic Solutions. If you look up their website ( search majestic solutions raleigh nc) they should list it on their website and you can buy some...

AutoMagic makes a water spot remover also that`s acid base but I have yet to try it even though I have a gallon. Most large cities should have a distributor in their area and you can go to their website to do a dealer search.

I`ve had really good luck with Meguiars DACP in removing water spots from my black mustang also.

Brandon: Is it the "BioClean" stuff? That`s the only product they have that says anything about water spots........Thanks bro!!

Also, I just did a quick KAIO and OS on the Tundra last night. It got hit was the dam sprinkler a while back and I haven`t had a chance to take care of it till last night. But, I was looking through all the stuff and, I don`t think I have anything that you don`t` already have. We were talking about the OHC. All I have for polishes OP, SIP, 106ff, Megs #85 and some OC. So, I will just order some OHC on my next order and give it a shot!! Thanks for the offer though!!!

Well the BIO CLEAN stuff works, but it`s only for glass. This other stuff is for paint. Give them a call and they should know what you are talking about....

As long as we`re talking water *spots* (as in, deposits on the paint) as opposed to water *etching* (depressions eaten into the paint), the acidic stuff oughta work fine.

And the stuff I`ve used was a lot more gentle than I expected; I woulda been OK with it being a lot stronger. It doesn`t necessarily *replace* claying (I often clay while the acid is dwelling), but it does do some jobs a whole lot better than claying alone.

Well then I might be confused!! I though that if the water spots were just on the surface they would wash off. That the only way I would have any problem getting rid of them was if they has etched into the paint.

So the stuff from Auto Int (The ABC-minus the "C") will remove the water spots that haven`t etched into the paint....correct? But whatever is etched will have to be removed with either wetsanding or polishing.....correct?
