Finally I had a day where I wasn`t too busy, and it was actually nice enough to do a full exterior detail on my car. I have no before pics since the paint was in really good shape to begin with, it only had very minor micro marring, but the paint was REALLY dirty.

    Process:

    - Wash w/Palmoilve dish soap.

    - Clay with Zaino Z-18 Claybar (This was a new bar, but I had to throw it away when I was done b/c it was so dirty).

    - Polish with UDM & Pinnacle XMT #1 using a Lake Country Low-Profile 5.5" white light cutting pad.

    - Zaino Z-AIO applied with UDM & Lake Country 5.5" Grey finishing pad.

    - Zaino Z2 Pro applied by hand.

    - Zaino ZCS

    - Zaino Z-6 wipedown

    - Rain-X glass cleaner on all exterior glass.

    - Wheels cleaned with Meguiar`s All Wheel, then sealed with ZCS.

    - Door jambs, under hood, etc. wiped down with ONR/H2O mixture.

I took lots of pics from different angles to try and show the bling.

Notice the last picture, the hood reflects light just as much as the windshield glass.

    Car looks great.

However, one pointer I`d like to add... Get yourself a wheel brush to get the insides of the wheels (barrels) clean. It will make quite a noticeable difference and set the wheels off even more (along with using some tire shine).

Great job. Once again Zaino comes through. I absolutely love AIO. How do you like applying it by machine?

It`s just fine to apply by machine, the grey LC pads work best since AIO is more of a cleaner polish.

I guess I can thank Mazda for that. It seems like they put quality first when it comes to paint jobs. The paint on my `94 RX-7 is still in very nice condition. It seems like the clear coat is about a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 as far as hardness goes. The 3 has 10K miles on it right now, but on my last car, a 2004 Dodge SRT-4, the paint was absolutely trashed at 10K & needed serious correction.

Mazda generally does an excellent job with their paints, especially the metallics. I loved the paint on my Velocity Red RX-8.

    Great job on the detail!

I know my Carbon Gray Mica 3 is plastered with rock chips. Overall, the paint is good, just a little weak.
