First C&B: My Daily Driver

No correction work done here, just a wash and spruce up. It was polished out this spring, starting to get some light wash induced marring by now though. I only do polishing once a year and winter is coming soon for these parts, I wanted to get a nice detail in before I had to start layering up my winter combos. Sorry my pictures aren`t that great, I`m using my wife`s 4 year old Kodak and also lack any photography skill.



Process:

- Wash with DG 901 2 bucket method

- Danase Wet Glaze PC speed 5

- Megs #26 w/ MF wrapped foam applicator

- FK 425 final wipedown

- Sprayaway glass cleaner + newspaper for windows, Turtle wax window MF for final wipedown

- Wheels + Tires: Michelin Brake Dust Repellent (works fairly decent) and No Touch (with buff to even out), wheel wells have armor all

I really like Danase Wet Glaze, smells great! It melts into the paint and removal of excess is very easy.



For the wheels I use a small tire brush that my wife picked up for me at Target as well as an old eurow sheepskin mitt (retired wash mitts). I have large spokes in my wheels so I can fit my hand through and get the barrels clean. I use some orange citrus cleaner to pretreat that I picked up in the same aisle as the eurow mitts and cut it 4:1, spray and let soak then agitate with the above tools. It is a real pain in the butt, and cleaning my wheels takes about the same time as working the paint. But I do the wheels and wells every wash so they stay relatively clean until winter hits.



I do swap wheels during the winter for some snow rubber and clean, clay and seal them with FK1000P. I suspect though cleaning with diluted citrus cleaner kills the coating of FK1000P after a month or so. Either way I find the Michelin product to work well.



I try to keep the car clean, it has plenty of miles on it (nearing 70,000) of highway driving so the front bumper and hood are starting to show some pitting. Next season I will get some 4" pads and see what I can do about that.

VW black is definitely quality. My sister used to have the same model. I always liked those wheels. I always thougth they looked larger than 17 inch on the car. NICE work on that one. #26 is looking really sharp on there.



Did you find the paint hard to correct? My sister`s old car was a bear. I got nowhere fast with my PC, but with my rotary I cut through the swirls and didnt leave behind much marring.

I used a black finishing/glazing pad, but have applied other glazes with a red pad in the past.
