For starters, I did this car back in February the Saturday before Superbowl Sunday. That Sunday I went to a SB party and woke up with the chills on Monday. I was sick with the flu and never got around to posting the pictures but, here they go.

This car had been hit and repaired. The body shop left if full of swirls after they "buffed" it out. The owner wasn`t happy with the look of the paint afterwards so she had it detailed and when the glaze wore off :chuckle: it still looked like this:

Yep, this is some of that STUPID soft jet black BMW paint. This paint hazed even when claying with ONE finger using Sonus green clay. So soft that if it were mine I`d sell it and get another color.

I used the trunk as the test spot after claying:

That was a success. Whole car was polished with IP and LC 5" orange pads on the rotary. It was finished with LC CCS 6.5" blue pads on the rotary using Menzerna RE5 is some places and 106ff in the others. It was sealed with two coats of Z2 Pro on the side panels and 3 coats on the top panels and rear of the car.

    Thanks again for looking.

I think I`ve gotten that "superbowl flu" before .

Great job on that soft BMW paint - it really is miserable to work on. You must have the patience of Job to resist the temptation to finesse it with RMG or another filler.

    Thanks!

We really were sick. It started with my daughter that Friday, my son Sunday morning, me on Monday and then the wife of Tuesday. The kids were 100% by Wednesday just when the wife and I were at our worse! You should have seen what they did to the house while we were aching. Just imagine a 4 and 7 year old with a bunch of toys.

Great job! I know that BMW does have bad black paint and poor clear also. The quality and pigments in it are very cheap in my opinion. I hate the dry jambs on the side of the hood lines where they do not clear anymore. It is a shame for such an impressive car with all the gadgets you get.

    nice job

i work for bmw as a new car detailer

typically a car takes 6 to 8 hours to prepare for the showroom floor ... these jet black vehicles take upto 2 days.

we work in a fully sheltered area - i`d hate to tackle outdoors with dust etc to make it harder

    Thanks for the compliments guys!

Ryan, yeah it`s a shame that performance is being chosen over quality as this is really a nice car otherwise.

Maesal, it wasn`t that hard to me. Once I did the first one the second one was easy.
