Hey guys; another fun one today. This time a 1971 Ferrari Daytona. I love the TR (like, love), but this Daytona is something else. I know it`s an atypical Ferrari design, but it`s one of my favorites.

The car is in good mechanical shape, the paint had it`s typical share of "stories" for a car this age. Repainted in 1991 with what I believe is a lacquer glasurit (definitely single stage), it was some of the harder paint I`ve dealt with (harder as in solid), which made it sort of hard to work on. There were a couple "blend ins", which were done artfully, but messed with the process. The condition was not hideous; swirls were moderate but there was some deeper marring all over. The paint was pretty thin, so I didn`t go "all out" on it, but it came out very well after some coaxing.

Process was, HTEC+#80 (yes, I tried it and like it a lot) via orange pad @ 1800, #80 by itself/orange pad in some spots @ 1500, then 106ff/white @ 1500 to finish. Anything less than 1500 left some vertical marring, tough paint. I finished with HD cleanse and Concours. We took off the badging etc, which helped a lot. Anyhow, pics. I`ve got a bunch of halogen befores, but tbh they were all sort of dark for whatever reason, use your imagination.

This pretty much sums it up, not a ton of light marring but a fair amount of deep stuff.

Decklid done, rolled it out to check progress:

    And afters...

Bonus car! :p 2005 Maserati Spyder 90th Anniversary Edition. I polished this car last year but I guess the dealer had gotten to it, so it needed a light polishing and re-seal. Process was 106ff/orange @ 1400 ish, Z5pro.

Awesome, I will be doing a what I believe is a 72 Ferrari Daytona soon but the paint is original for the most part, cracked, oxidized etc. The owner wants me to buff it but it really just needs a paint job. Great photos once again, I think I will take the plunge and just buy a darn DLSR!!

When I detailed part time at the Foreign Motors West auto body shop, I had the opportunity to detail a Ferrari Daytona, and as a plus, drive it to the FMW dealership in Natick, where the owner was picking it up with his wife, who was getting her new Rolls Royce at the time.
