Well, today`s detail was an adventure in grime removal. The interior of this car had several large Coca Cola stains that formed productive, expanding colonies by the time I got to `em. The exterior was typical of a neglected daily driver, nothing too surprising. The emphasis of the detail was more on the interior, and it was more or less a quick buck through a referral.

Now, I don`t detail for a living, nor do I advertise my services much (which may be apparent in the following pictures.. I need a lot of practice), so my clientele is your average joe.. who may or may not have a house to detail at. Just explaining ahead of time why this job was done at a coin-op. :dance

    Process

    Exterior

EO A2Z on wheels and tires

    Thoroughly degrease lower rocker panels

    Wash with Meguiar`s NXT shampoo

Clay with Claymagic Blue & Megs GC/Water lube solution

Meguiar`s #66 applied via jersey cotton for extra cutting power

NXT Tech Wax to top things off

Sorry guys, no polishing or swirl removal here. Just a quick, smooth as glass shine.

    Before:

    After:

    --------------------

    Interior

Vacuum EVERYTHING, using a tire brush to sweep dust out of crevices.

Folex pretreat on Cola stains and small brush to agitate

    Hot foam shampoo

    More Folex on stains, scrub

    Vacuum up residue

More Folex on newly discovered stains, scrub

    Vacuum up reside

MORE Folex, agitate with brush, blot with MF

    Re-vacuum everything again

Water/Mighty Orange APC 1:1 sprayed on everything, use an old Crest Spinbrush to agitate gunk and dried on Cola, soak with water, wipe up with MF

Use long-bristled brush with APC, clean out vents, spray with water, wipe with MF, turn blower motor on high to dry out.

NXT Glass Cleaner on all glass

    Interior dressing on various parts.

    Before

    After

I am still finding my faults when I look at the pics, so I`m not particularly satisfied with this detail, but the customer was happy so I can only look at this as another notch in the belt.

    Thanks for viewing.

Looks much better now :xyxthumbs But what`s with that carpet on the dashboard? There is an opening for the airbag on the right side. I doubt the airbag is designed to work with a carpet on top of it, could be dangerous :nervous: just a point

I know exactly what you mean. I suggested that the dashrug be left off, but the customer had a specific reason for leaving it on. The place where the airbag comes out has a separate piece, though, so I guess it`s safe.

Not to mention the material is so cheap! You can only do so much with a cheap, filthy car so don`t feel bad if you can`t get it perfect, I doubt anyone can.
