THis is what a detail shop produced in my area.

2001 Jetta.

We used to be in the same VW club a few years ago. (I have been out of the car show scene.)

He had a full detail done. Picks it up on a a cloudy day. Next day he sees this. After returning to the shop a few times, he was told that: IT IS VERY HARD TO MAKE BLACK LOOK FLAWLESS.

He called me a few days ago to see if I could correct the holograms on his car.

This is what I see. The whole car was swirled up besides all the holograms/slightly burnt paint.

OHC/1500rpm/orange LC pad

OHC/speed 6/white LC pad

SSR1/2/speed 6/white LC pad

Started at 6pm, finished at 11:00.

Topped it with FK1 #2180

It is very hard to make black look flawless, but only for the other detailer :har:

Nice Job on clening up the other guys damage, Send the car back and tell them to get their $$ back or take him to small claims court.

The guy should drive back to the shop and show them and say, "This is how it`s done and what it should look like"!!

i think its easiest to make black look flawless because if you know what youre doing, the results show way better

It`s only hard to make black look flawless when you suck at detailing. Ugh. That shop deserves to be out of business.

Excellent job on fixing the paint, looks so much blacker now.

I fully agree. Black is my favorite color to detail, and white is my least favorite.

I am currently in the process of fixing the exact same thing on my car. Check out my thread in the Detailing forum. Its a pain the butt. I only wish I was skilled with a Rotary so it would be easier.

doesn`t surprise me as I know of many who pay teenagers "piece work" wages and give them a rotary and say "GO"

Since it didn`t rain today the owner was able to see his car in direct sunlight and he was happy to report that the car looked great! He is once again happy to look at his own car

I sent him the before/after pictures. He will try to get a partial refund - the interior was ok - although I didn`t really look at the inside, but he shows his car so there isn`t much to clean anyways.

Hi Brad - yes I am wearing them. Cost $14.95 at home depot. They sure help.

I consider him a friend. Charged him $150.00 - initially I was told that I am only removing holograms, he didn`t really say much about swirls.

He may want me to do his girlfriend`s car and I think another. Plus there is another guy with his black Jetta from our old club that is also interested now.

BTW, do you have some extra Extreme Cut I could purchase from you? I`d like to try it.
