I headed to Dallas this past weekend and detailed a friend`s C5 while I was there. It had some moderate swirling he wanted taken care of and requested that I "Zaino it." This car had more orange peel than any other GM vehicle I`ve done.

    Process:

    Wash with Zaino Z7

    Clay

Poorboy`s SSR 2.5 via light cutting pad and PC at 6

Menzerna PO106FF via polishing pad and PC at 5

Klasse AIO via polishing pad and PC at 5

    Zaino Z5 x 2

    Zaino Z8

    Wolfgang tire gel on tires

    Eagle One Wet in wells

    Luster Pad to polish tips

    After

What was the purpose for the AIO? I though the 106 finished down so LSP could be used. Or does Zaneo require you to use it?

I had a hazing issue from the SSR 2.5 that I was trying to deal with. Normally, AIO wouldn`t be used in that situation.

Did you use AIO for the exhaust tips?

I`m surprised you got anywhere with the PC.... I used the SSR line on my 99 Black FRC and it took forever to get a good cut on the clear. I switched to IP with the rotary and it made life a lot easier.

Good work though, I know first hand how much of a pain those vettes can be

Nice work, I love black vettes.

One comment though, not about your post in particular, but a general observation. Why do most people here take the "before" picture before even a wash?

Any car will definitely look much different after a wash. It seems to me like Autopians should be primarily concerned with the affects of paint prep + LSP, and to see the affects of those steps, and not the wash. (Sorry for the rant!)

    Thanks again, all!

evenflow - I used Luster Pad on the exhaust...no AIO.

sumptimwong - when *I* take pictures, I usually have my website in mind. It`s the same "before" and "after" that the customer will experience, but I do agree that Autopian purposes would be better served after the vehicle is clean.

Personally, when I do it, I am showing the true starting point, especially if the car is completely trashed. I do try and include an `after washing` pic like I did with the Audi and the Porsche 928 but not always. I think I speak for everyone when I say you just don`t always have time to take pictures at every stage of the detail, especially those of us who do this for a living.

I agree that showing the car clean and then polished is a great way to show the effects of polishing, just not always possible.
