I think that the new C6 was not supposed to be interpretted as being an all new, latest and greatest vette. I think that it`s purpose is to improve upon the shortcomings of the C5 and keep it as modern as possible until the next total redesign.

They are talking about the C6 here. I`m glad you see them all the time, because they haven`t been built yet.
As far as the Corvette in general goes, dollar to dollar, you`ll never compete.
Actually, I`m not trying to compete. I don`t have to worry about a plastic-y interior. I don`t have to worry about recalls. I don`t have to worry about standing on any street corner and every third car that goes by is my car. I got something longer than a 3RY/36000 mile warranty because Porsche had enough faith in their product to give me a longer warranty. My car is 7 years old and still retains 70-75% of its original value. And if the keys to a brand new Corvette and my 7 year old Porsche were sitting on my kitchen table, when I left, the Corvette keys would still be there. That being said, I don`t feel the need nor see the reason to "compete". I do apologize if I have offended any "American automobile officionados", but based on both personal and public past experiences with them, they aren`t worth the tyres they roll on.

Apples and oranges. If you`ve got the money for it, good for you.
Doesn`t really have anything to do with money. I`d take a Volkswagen Golf GTi over a Ford Focus SVT any day of the week. Would that, in your opinion, be comparing apples to apples?

All I am saying is look how much it takes to buy a new Porsche that can outperform a Vette, and how much it takes to buy a new Vette.
That`s what I mean by apples and oranges. I`m glad that you are in a situation where you are able to afford what you want.
I can think of a few 4 door sedans that can out-perform the "vette". Namely the Audi RS6 or Mercedes E55 AMG, to name a few.

for almost double the price though. Not a big fan of Audi`s (very vanilla in terms of styling), but the E55 AMG is a hot car...
My daily driver is Japanese, my toy is American (reliability and fun, respectively)...
Again, give me something for $50K that can compare with the Vette.
Anyways, I am done with this pointless "detailing" topic.
