Now, now, guys. This thread is about the SLC Autopia Car Show ... which seems to have been wildly successful, thanks to Jngr and other energetic Autopians.

Deanski, I`m a Zaino fan too, but this is not the thread for a Zaino advertisement. I have my Mod gun loaded and am ready to delete posts as needed.

    Lynn,

I was replying with regards to the clear bras used on some of the cars pictured.

It really was a "shot" at Zaino as people reffer it as plastic looking ...clear bra... get it?

That said. It went 360 after that comment.

Nice to see these cars and that they too have installed clear bras to protect the finish.

Love to see the rest of these pics.

    Wouldn`t it be 180 instead of 360?

C`mon people... For one, Lynn is a moderator. She is just trying to keep this thread from being further hijacked. I don`t think you need to quote the rules and etiquette guidelines to a moderator. Trust me, that wasn`t an attack. She was just trying to kill the hijacking and let the thread just be. Not that I don`t appreciate the bump, but I would prefer the whole hijacking just end now and the last 10 posts (11 including this one) just be deleted. They have nothing to do with the thread.

that 1/2 done car is hilarious!!

How long did you have to let the undone side go to get it like that???

Did you only even wash 1/2, or wash the whole thing..

I bet you could convince any normal person to buy some wax by using that as an advertisement. classic!!!

Trust me, that is no Autopian car. That is the dealership loaner car. I don`t know how long it takes to get a car looking that nasty but I would guess its a good 8 or 10 years of no waxing and few washes. We washed the whole thing and then just clayed and polished one half. With the little work we did on it I don`t think anyone would mistake it for a `show car` or anything, but the contrast to the before was good enough that people got the idea of what was possible. Fortunately there weren`t any cars that were in worse condition than even the side we did half on. Everybody who entered were in really really good shape. There was one black car that was swirled to hell and back, but it was the only one. Most of the people were even familiar with clay. Go figure... :lol

I am doing a friends car tonight that`s close to that...

It`s a 99 miata that`s never seen any wax, gets washed at the self washes with the `broken glass brushes` and lives in a mud/gravel drive way..

The paint color is a midnight blue mica, so it`s a fantastic color, one of my fav`s, and I feel so bad for the car that it`s gonna be a freebie (he brings the beer) job and i`m gonna teach him as we work.

I`d love to do half like that, just to show him.. I should, and make him drive around like that til next week. that would be great.

I always thought it would be cool to buy a work truck that was oxidized like that and just detail the drivers side. It would be like a rolling advertisment for a mobile detailer. Anyone can maintain a great looking vehicle, but I think it would say alot for people to see that you can bring a vehicle back from the dead. If I ever do get a POS pickup then I`m definitely going to do that and put my business logo on the clean side.

Here`s a thought for ya.... Just detail one half and tell him that one is on you. Then leave your card and tell him to call you when he has the money to get the other side done. lol :lol I used to do just one half of the spoiler or something like that to show people what was possible. I think a half and half demonstration is important for people to see now and then. I think Mike Phillips would agree with that. :xyxthumbs He is my hero of the half and half vehicles.

I hope Eric left them my card. Actually, that would be kinda funny since Eric is their detailer and all. I hope he has fun with that. :lol

Here are some more pics to get things back on track

Here is the Green M3 that got third place

Is the corrodo the black car you were referring to as `There was one black car that was swirled to hell and back`? The Audi A4 that showed up really late had some bad swirls too.

Yup. That`s the one. Here`s a better shot of the damage that one of the Bimmer guys took. The car was modded out the wazoo, but those swirls were something to be afraid of. :scared

Great pic! Can`t wait for the rest!

Wow, was that black car swirled!

I know you guys must have been shaking! Gee none of you broke down and started to correct this car? I hope you showed what can be accomplished with a little work.. well, maybe in that case a lot of work and some good wax.

Glad to know you all had fun, sure looks like it!

Actually, no one mentioned it when I went in on Tuesday.:nixweiss I`m thinking I`ll try to finish the other side this weekend, since it looks so bizarre as it is. I`ll keep you guys posted. Hopefully my pics will be up by Friday too.
