Re: 2005 1/2 Ton Pickups - Chevy, Dodge, or Ford ?

Wow dude. Those are some bold statements. However, to each is their own. Maybe you are only speaking about the 1/2 tons-I don`t know.My current truck, yes my avatar. Carpet is not wearing, interior panels as well as everything else is fine and holding up well. This truck`s interior goes thru it all. I use this truck for some heavy towing, including mountains too. I tow my boat, which is 30 ft. at a typical 70 mph without a problem. I`ve done it at 85 mph under safe conditions and it tows like a dream w/out a bounce or SWAY. I use it to haul my atv`s too. So imagine my kids going in and out all the time banging it up w/all their gear too? After 51,000 miles, not a problem. Knock on wood...

The nice thing about the Ford trucks is their straight axle front end. I`ve always liked that.

Sorry G to hi-jack the content of this thread a little, but I know what I know too after 18 years of having trucks. To say that one truck is totally better than another w/out something good is not being honest...:doh

    Hey,

My mom stopped up to my apartment yesterday. The truck has swirls throughout and the tire dressing was slun on the tires, paint, and rims. I have some work to do when I get home

Good Choice. Nice looking truck. I have a 00 Z71 ext cab. Ordered it factory new

I have to say that was a great price for the truck (especially with quadrasteer).

If you are looking for an awesome chevy/gmc message board for any truck help have them go to www.gm-trucks.com that site is a good one just like this place!!!

Congrats on the new truck! I love new trucks, Ford, Chevy, whatever. There`s nothing quite like a new pickup! I just ordered a new one, which will be done in mid-February.

    Enjoy the new ride!

I know this isnt a choice, but personally i would go with a GMC Sierra 1500 if you are going to go with GM. I think they look nicer than the Chevy`s.

kasperj: I thought of that too and would`ve agreed a couple years ago. However, I like the aggressive look of the Avalanche nose on it better than the smoother lines of the GMC.

    My friend`s dad owns a 1977 Ford F150.

He will not be purchasing an F150 when he buys another. The 1500 chevy is on the list. Along with the Toyota Tacoma.

He doesn`t all too like the new fords, especially when they made them a lot smaller.

I got a buddy that is a used car dealer, and he has a
2000 Chev Silv 1500 with 135,000 on it and loves it. He says
hands down, a way nicer riding , handling and Fantastic re-sale than
    fords or dodge. just my.02

Guess I`m getting in this thread a little late, but glad to see you went with the Silverado. We have a `96 Silverado, but I`d sure like to have a new one.
Go for the window tint for sure. Stay away from the drop-in bed liners. Go for the spray-on like Rhino. I manage a fleet that includes about a hundred pickups and I went with the spray-on (Rhino) years ago and it`s the first thing I do to them when I get a new one.

We love the truck so far

Once this weather clears up, I WILL be detailing it.

We got the Rhino Liner already sprayed it. It looks amazing and it`s nice and shiny...Yay, no need to dress it

Sean, Top of the Line has a brush attachment for bed liners and it attaches to the PC if you ever want one for cleaning it.

Re: 2005 1/2 Ton Pickups - Chevy, Dodge, or Ford ?

I have a Ford F-150 with 140,000 miles on it and it is flawless. The Ford will probably be most expensive of the 3.
My constrcution company owns 3 fords and 4 chevys. The Chevys are real crap. (This is my experience, not looking to offend anyone) The Chevys are 2001 3500 Silverado (Rack Body), 2002 3500 Box truck and 2003 3500 box truck. They are constintly back for warranty work. The 2002 had received a new exhaust, cat, tranasmission befor it got to 10K.
2 of my employees have Dodge Rams and both would not buy another one. They say the only plus for the Dodge is the price and finance rates.
    Just my 2 cents.

    For 2005? Ford. F-150. Period.
