    Seeking help..... Anodized aluminum fading

On my personal car I have Baer Eradispeed two piece rotors around the whole car. They have black anodized aluminum hats and as I was applying dressing to the tires I noticed that one was stained/faded? Which I`m guessing is from an acid rim cleaner? Anyhow, is there anyway to get the color back or am I just SOL?

That`s a good question, for me Poorboys pro polish would be my guess..but that you mean removing the wheel. Looking at them online it`s a powder coating looking finish. I`d keep the wheel cleaning off of them for sure.

I plan on removing the wheel no matter what so that won`t be a big deal. I really just want my finish back! I have thought about polish but have read that it can remove the anodized finish. At this point I guess that doesn`t really matter. The high glossy black are my powdercoated wheels and the purplish/black is the hat of my rotor that is anodized and is fading/stained. I have come across a product called everbrite (http://www.everbritecoatings.com/ano...ndowframes.htm) and it says it can restore the look but I am hesitant to try it.

When you asked Baer Eradispeed about this problem, what did they say to do ?

You cannot polish anodizing. You will just remove it. Sorry!

Not sure if this wil help but check out flitz aluminum pre-cleaner - I got that and the aluminum /metal polish - just used the cleaner on some element rims that had badly brown stains from brakes, rust - like a years worth. Regular wheel cleaner did nothing, I sprayed the flitz and bam simple pass with my wheel brush and they were clean as can be.

Mild soap and water. Seems to do little or nothing... I lost my wheel key so I can`t take the wheel off to try and get better leverage on the spot. So I am fighting wheel spokes at the moment.

Yeah I know. Was just hoping for some kind of idea from someone to possibly tone the stain down.

Thanks bud, I`ll give that a try and see if it can make it budge.

Drill brushes... I went out an bought a bosch hammer drill (Reconditioned for 40$), best investment for wheels I`ve ever made and probably for labor saving; period.
    http://www.cpotools.com/factory-reco...-hammer-drills

I`ve purchased all 3 of these, each one tackles a different section of the wheel.

Griots garage wheel lug nut brush

    Ace Wheel brush

    Chemical guys ball buster

One of them might be able to at least brush it down with a mild cleaner.

If it is truly anodized (vs powercoated) there is really no solution other than refinishing.

    ^^

Anodized finishes will fade over time. I`ve got a suspension piece that is anodized blue. It started life as a dark blue and after a year it is sky blue. Same thing happens to anodized engine bolts, red will turn to pink.

Yes, this is why I am not a huge fan of anodized finished. Particularly with the newer technology semi-transparent powdercoating that is available.

Definitely gonna have them powdercoated when I go to do a bunch of parts. Just was trying to save a little bit money if I could.

I`m just not having the best of luck with some of my detailing products on my car lately. First the rotor hats and now my front bumper corner reflectors have a white stain . I might have to retire a few products from my Saleen.
