    Losing some paint...

I was working on my fathers car today and it`s losing some paint here and there... It`s a 04` Jag. Any advice here to better shine things up?!?

    Thank You...!

It is paint chipping or fading? Fading can be buff out to bring out the shine. Like using the Blackfire line of products that will help in this dept.

Somewhat similarly, my wife`s 95 Accord has its clear coat going in a few spots. It`s not worth paying to have the roof re-sprayed, so what are my options. I recently applied a pure sealant to stop the deterioration, but it doesn`t appear to have done much of anything.

    Thoughts everyone?

post some pics if you can, that might help. if the clearcoat is failing, not much will help that, save a sanding and a respray. i tried to compound ,polish and seal a friends clearcoat that was already failing and flaking in spots and nothing helped that finish.

"Losing some paint" I mean as in becoming dull/fading... My obvious guess would clearly be to get a new paint job or new car! .... but thats not an option Suggestions from you all would be appreciated! Thanks guys.

    pictures would be SO helpful

Sounds like it`s oxidized paint, which is WAY less harder and cheaper than a whole new paint job

It depends if you can buff it back to life, since the outermost layers of paint are constantly exposed to air and water and if the car`s outer finish is not protected by a wax coating or sealant, the oxygen molecules in the air will eventually start interacting with the paint. As the oxygen burns up the free radicals contained in the paint, the finish becomes duller and duller. it needs to buff out ( you will see the dead paint on the pad and towels ) to remove this and top off with a wax or sealant. But pictures would be nice.
