Might need some help from the Euro guys, I have a ? on a type of paint

what I`d like to do is prepare half of my hood with zaino (once it arrives) and the other half with meguiar`s medallion (my current product).

what I`m worried about is a permanent change (notice I didn`t say damage) between the two sides. I`m hoping that washing with dawn after the comparison will bring both sides back to the same state they were in prior to the comparison. if it matters, I plan to leave both products on for 3-4 months.

I did half my hood with Klasse and the other half with Meguiar`s Gold Class for my wax testing. Your clearcoat should provide protection from UV if you haven`t polished the protective layers off. I think it is fine to do it.

I think you will have no problems getting the sides to look the same afterwards as long as you wash with Dawn and then use a pre cleanser of some sort. Please let us know how your comparison test goes.

so what were the results of your comparison test?

I was looking through the Swiss Vax site, I picked up a few of their waxes for BMW. Porshe, Italian cars just for a few of my clients that want the feeling of having one of a kind wax on their cars. I came across a wax that is formulated for "nitrocellulose paints" and I have never heard of it before. It seems like it is used on a lot of musical instruments, airplane parts, and some auto finishes. Yet I dont think I`ve seen any vehicles come through with that type of finish.

So if someone could give me some insight, maybe Todd or David would know? Any help is greatly appreciated.

A few years back, I do remember Ford buying the rights I think for their automotive divison. Something to do with faster drying time in painting at the factory. Anyone?

Nitrocellulose is lacquer paint. You will only find it on older cars.

Nitrocellulose is the paint used long before the newer urethanes, etc., came out.
Think of Acrylic Lacquer, now think of Lacquer before that came out, and there you are.
Old cars had it, none of you guys actually probably none of us ever bought a car new that had that paint on it - maybe our grandpa`s or great grandpa`s did.
