I`m not out trying to save the world, look rich, make up for something or think something is wrong by where it`s made. My critia is, safety, good on gas, power and handling, quality of materials and costs to own. That said, there`s just some cars that I wouldn`t have if they were giving them away:

    1. Smart Car - really, what`s so F...ing smart about hitting a cat and totaling it
    2. Any 3/4 ton, 4 door, 4X4, unless you`re using it as a ...gasp TRUCK!
    3. Any German car unless you have deep pockets for "scheduled" maintence (anybody want a deal on a 2008 GTI)
    4. Hybrids - pricey and complex, rather get a diesel ( wait for the new Madza )
    5. Any old 60`s / 70`s muscle car - ok, regained breathing yet, think I must be high on crack or a commie? NO, I lived through that era, and let me say, those things were fast, but handled like crap, rode like Harley hard-tail and stopped like a fat man with greasy shoes on a ski jump. Put in a car show and then trailer it home.
All I have in this world is my word, and my balls and I don`t break `em for no one, you understand?"

And the reason for not wanting any of the many cars made by any of those manufacturers is...? I`m gonna guess you have a problem with Japanese brands. You stay away from Sony, too?

Nick, just curious as to why a Mazda3 made your list? I`m not offended or anything, but I am curious.

First 5 that popped into my head:
    1) Chevy Cobalt (any variant including the SS)
    2) Dodge Neon (any variant including the SRT-4)
    3) Ford Escort
    4) Toyota Prius
    5) Toyota Camry

Cars cause for interesting beliefs and actions, I think. Most (not all) car owners seem to have an allegiance to a "brand" or company in particular and often that spells doom for an alleged competitor.

For example, Vette owners seem to be amongs the most loyal. Many (like Luster) have owned Vette`s for ages and will continue to do so... I would imagine that most of those owners cringe at the thought of owning a Mustang!!!

I tend to be loyal to Toyota and Honda, although they both make plenty of cars I wouldn`t want (Sienna, Prius, Element, Fit). I also don`t know if there is a company I would say I would NEVER buy from. I`m not convinced about quality with companies like Kia or maybe even Hyundai, so I might avoid them, but avoiding a company because it isn`t an American brand, has never made a whole lot of sense to me (remember, plenty of foreign cars are American & Canadian made) and quite a few "American" cars are made in Canada!
