I keep the lid off of my jeep most of the year and even drive in light rain. I`m looking to buy a new system and was wondering where to start as far as marine stereo. Durable speakers are a must also. I drive a 95 Jeep Wrangler YJ.

I know they`re overpriced but did you look at Crutchfield? Their guides/etc. are usually awesome places to start when planning out a system.

I actually had a Crutchfield catalog sitting next to me when I responded. I flipped through the pages but didn`t see one dedicated marine application. They are on the high price end of the scale but their service is top notch and their adapter kits make installs in most vehicles a piece of cake.

Interesting... I wonder why they don`t have anything in the catalog? They always used to. Goes to show how long it`s been since I bought anything from them!
Either way, there`s an entire section of their site dedicated to marine audio:

Sweet I`m on my way to check it out now. Looking for a mp3 stereo only. Thanks for the info!
Wow, check this out. I think you guys can appreciate this for sure.
Waterproof Sound System - JeepForum.com
I think I`m gonna do something like that and find a way to remove it easily. Maybe enclose it in a lock box of some sort for security.
Not sure if I am too late, but......
I (or any of my jeep friends) have ever used marine equipment. For speakers, just find something that does not have paper cones. I used Alpine Type S. 6.5" in the sound bar and 4x6" in the front. Alpine CDA105 cd player. Unless you are planning on driving through some serious downpours, I would not get hung up on marine audio.
