I have heard that to remove tape one uses fishing line and gently saws your way underneath the object that you want to remove. Not sure what to use to remove the remnanats of the two sided tape.

I`ve never looked at this so this is a real knee jerk response but if this is a factory wing I would be surprised if it is a tape only. They usually use tape and some type of mechanical fastener.

I know that the last body style of Mustangs (99-04??) had 2 screws/bolts holdind the rear wings on. When people removed them they had to fill and then paint the holes...

However if it is just taped on there, a little bit of heat from a heat gun or hair dryer and fishing line should do the trick.

I`d check underneath the trunk lid to see if you can see any nuts or bolts that might be holding it on. If it`s just tape, you should be able to remove it with fishing string and use goo gone and a plastic razor blade to get rid of whatever adhesive may be left over.

This is your best bet. I would actually soak the area of the tape with the Goo Gone first and let it soak for a few minutes then proceed with the fishing line. The Goo Gone will also remove all residue and follow that with a good wipe down with Denatured Alcohol. Then wax and wax if your leaving it that way.

I go the other route, fishing line then goof off or goo gone. No need to make a bigger mess than necessary.

Curious as to why you keep bringing alive threads that are 2 and 3 years old?

Maybe you should also think about changing your Avatar it`s a bit out of line for this place.

You can resurrect any thread you wish to discuss but 97F1504x4 is correct, your avatar is not appropriate for DC. Try to keep it family friendly. Your avatar has been removed.
