    Trunk Leak HELP!

Well it was too good to be true on my 2001 Aurora - the trunk leaks

if you are facing the back of the car it is the back left hand section that gets wet (the lining the pad underneath etc..) is this a trouble shoot and fix thing or take it to the pros thing?

LOL, in all honesty though I wouldnt know where to start. If you know exactly where it is coming from you might just plug it with something? I would probably take it to the pro`s though.

Check the gasket around the trunk opening and the alignment of the trunk.

If no luck, take up the trunk carpeting and get someone to spray a hose up from under the car.

Also make sure the rain gutter drain holes in the jamb of the trunk are clear

I found a leak in my right rear trunk that was coming from the seams of the inner trunk wheel well. The other members offered some very good suggestion including the gentlemen with the duct tape .

My wifes Grand Am leaks too. Cannot find out where it is coming from either. Where the spare tire goes, turns into a lake when we get a down pour.

Use automotive body caulk to fix that, it will last a long time and be fully water and rust proof. Go to a body shop supply store to find this, its cheap.

You can get black or white also. Inside a trunk under a carpet, it should be fine.

    Re: Trunk Leak HELP!

one way to check for leaks is to get into the trunk with a flashlight and have some run water on the entire trunk area. as the water runs in you should be able to see it. that is what we do at dealerships. also don`t forget to check the tail lamps, brake light if mounted on trunk, spoiler etc. another trick is to take out the trunk liner and wait a few days if it is raining. the leak will leave a stain of dried water where the path is. follow it to the area and fix the leak. good luck.
