    I`m sooo confused!! HELP!!!

I dropped my front bumper off at the auto body shop to have it repainted. I did this on Thursday... Friday morning I stopped up there to ask the shop a question and they were sanding my bumper...They said it was going to be ready on Tuesday. I was checking my work voicemail and they called at 3:30 on Friday and said the bumper was ready? What the heck? How could they apply the paint/clearcoat in one day? Is this possible? Am I getting screwed here? I plan on going up their monday morning first thing and get it...Any insight into this so I am prepared when I go up their to dispute getting it done right?

    Thanx

    Frank

Its very possible that they got on the ball and got your bumper done asap. Its possible to paint, clear, wetsand a bumper in one day with the right paint booth.

    TrueDetailer,

Thank you so much for the quick reply!! They estimated the refinish as

3.8 hours of labor... and are using an ADP TWO-STAGE REFINISH FORMULA..

Does that explain why it was done so quick? I thought two stage meant one for paint and one for clearcoat...

Dante do you mind if I asked you how much they charged you?

    I paid $375 for repainting a bumper on a 03 Suburban.

    Coastal,

They charged me 340... Around 250 for labor and the rest were for materials (paint, sandpaper, etc...)

It`s entirely possible to do, especially if they`re a bigger shop that has a curing oven. You`ll want to look over it really closely to make sure there aren`t any visible signs of a quick job (uneven sanding, buffer swirls, incomplete color coverage, etc). If they did a fine job then be glad you`ve found a body shop you can go to for quick quality work.

it is very possible that is was finished that quick. with a curing booth, a-1 materials and paints that does not seem out of the ordinary for a bumper. i had mine fixed a few years ago on a 94 cavalier and with bumper repair(my wife gouged the frt. bumper on a trailer hitch on they truck in frt. of her :angry ), i had the car back in two days. check it over really good tho make sure you are satisfied, but sleep well until then.

    Guys,

Thanx for the explanation... I"m by no means a bodyshop guru. I got the bumper back and it looks great... Can`t wax it for 6-8 weeks but it looks tremendous. And as for as letting them know, I didn`t have a chance... They called me today to make sure "I was satisfied with the job". I couldn`t believe it. What service... Hard to find these days.

Once again, thanx for all the replies...

Good to know you`ve found a bodyshop you can trust. I would wait even more than the required 6-8 weeks, 10-12 weeks is even better. It`ll make sure the paint is 100% cured and adhered to the surface. Until then you can polish it and keep it nice and clean.
