It all started when my passenger rear turn signal light went out. When I went to replace the bulb the socket was all melted and charred. I bought a new socket and bulb and realized that the turn signal works when the lights are not on. When the lights are on just the passenger side rear tail light doesn`t work. I don`t know what to do and need help before I get a ticket.

I agree with you. Just replace the bulb.

You shouldn`t get a ticket for a burnt-out bulb. You`ll just get a "fix-it" ticket, which is basically a warning. Around here, you have to stop in at the police station and show them that you fixed the violation. You have 10 days to do so, or else the ticket goes on your record and a fine is assessed.

Hmm..that makes sense in some sort of weird way. Something is backwards...or sometimes a high resistance short can do weird things like that. Are you the original owner of the car? Has it recently had body work?

Yup, find out why this happened before you replace the socket
