Little update...My friend was getting rid of his car and stereo equipment, so I was able to take a lightly used Pioneer DEH-P6300 off of him for only $50...It was only missing the mounting sleeve which I just picked up from a local car stereo shop for $10 + plus a $15 Acura wiring kit adapter. For $75, I`m not complaining

I ve got a simple yet punchy 10" Rockford HX2 DVC in my Subaru.

Its been set into a fibreglass moulded enclosure in the rear.

    Look

Its rated at 500w rms but is receiving 900wrms from a Phoenix Gold QX900.1d amp.(runs great with no distortion)

I have a set of 6" comps by Infinity running off a PGold QX180.2

The amps are in the spare wheel well.

    HU is Alpine MP3.

    Look

I just have the factory Bose system in my Max, with the rears replaced with Cerwin-Vega H.O. 6x9s.

I don`t listen to much rap, so when I do, the bass that the speakers put out is plenty for me. I never turn the bass all the way up anyway.

I had a friend with a LOUD system in his Mustang 5.0. He put about $5000 in the system and another $7000+ worth of performance/cosmetic modifications into the car. He had the car disassembled in the autos lab at school for 5 months while he replaced all kinds of engine internals, manifolds, and other stuff.

He drove the car around for the first day in 5 months with his system blaring. He was turning left through an intersection and didn`t hear a fire truck and ambulance coming from the side, and he swerved to avoid them and hit a tree, totaling his car.

To me it seemed like one hell of a waste of money. You have to shout over the volume of the stereo, youhave a headache after leaving the car, and most importantly to my friend, you can`t hear emergency vehicle sirens.

Right now I am running the factory Monsoon system. In my closet at home I have an Xtant X603 (75x2 and 150x1), a Boston Acoustics 12.5lf (2 ohm model), and a set of CDT CL61a components with the image enhancement kit. I just ordered my power wire kit, and hopefully I`ll get a chance to install everything in the next few weeks. Everything will be run off of the factory headunit, and the installation will be as stealth as possible save for the sub because of its airspace requirement.

In the ES330, I have the optional Mark Levinson sound system. I`m a big audiophile and this sounds very good.

I have 11 speakers but the 14 speaker version in the LS is even better. Has just a slight bit of midrange suckout which I compensate for by boosting the mids. Everything is touch screen controlled on the navigation system.

I know the guys that work in Lexus` audio division and they are considering a hirez audio option like SACD (rocks!) or DVDA (dead).

Hey SilverLexus, I wish I had the ML system as well. The Nak system is merely adequate ... but at least not awful.

It`s the only high-end stock audio system for cars I`ve heard.

Sadly, most of the market is geared to boom and sizzle not fidelity.

For reference, my home system is built around Martin Logans, Clayton Audio, VPI TNT with van den Hul, Koetsu or Grados, the earliest heavy duty Sony SACD player, and various tube preamps.

Nice to see a fellow audiophile here.

I have an Alpine CDA-9835 head unit in my WRX. Connected to that is an Alpine KCA-420I iPod interface box with a 40GB iPod stashed in the glove box. I also have a Sirius SIR-ALP1 interface box under the seat for satellite radio. The whole system is powered by a JL Audio 300/4 amplifier with a JL "Wedge" 10 inch subwoofer enclosure in the trunk. Factory speakers have been upgraded to MB Quart pieces.
