Bizarre. I can`t imagine spectators sitting around watching a car buzz the way they`d watch one rocket down the dragstrip... They might both be over in 4 seconds, but only at the end of one of those is somebody is doing 300+ mph.

Ya know I use to do DB drags, It was fun at first but it does get old.... I Like the sound quality show/competition better. I use to have ford probe, I won some with that ole girl, that was back when I was in IASCA.. Then I started helping a guy work on a blazer, It had 8 12"s, One day we were "testing" and I got a nose bleed :eek LOL it was fun..

Here are a few pics of the Blazer..

I remember standing near Rockford Fosgate`s Promo vehicle some years ago. That car was only turned up 1/4 of the way and it was setting off EVERY car alarm within a 3 block radius.

I`ve been entering into some SQ competitions over the summer. I think there is a lot more skill involved in getting something to sound as good as possible, anybody can have a loud car with a few speakers and a few thousand watts of power.

I too pride myself on my sound quality (atleast better then my brother`s Bose system in his A4...)

How do they test SQ? Is it just by judge`s ear? or...what?

I can honestly say that putting all that money into a stereo that only plays 1 note, in a car that you can`t drive does not interest me. I do enjoy a good stereo, although I never went very deep into it.

However, dang it, everyone should have an interest or hobby, have fun and pursue it. More power to the guy. :xyxthumbs

Its just like building up an enging that will never be able to drive to work and back. These 8 second machines that people build for track racing aren`t ever going to be daily drivers. The principle is the same for this stereo competition. The winners of these `races` aren`t driving their cars to and from the race most likely. It would be a fun hobby though. I`d rather build an 8 second Mustang myself, but whatever floats your boat.
