good amp + good sub + good install + good box design= great all around

I agree with what toyota guy said. Get a new h/u, you may not even have to get a new sub. And then if you do, it will be alot easier to hook up with rca`s. I would get one with a return policy. Bose is known for eliminating certian frequencies in their car stereos to eliminate rattles and peakes in response, altering the h/u system will eliminate the custom eq that came with the car.

I would try what another guy said, powered sub. The infinity bass link is great sounding and powerful, and the Kenwood powered sub system will fit under your front seat and puts out surprising power for its size.

IMO, it is not near bad enough to go that in depth with. We have bose in both of our trucks, and as far as the mids and highs, they sound just as good as my custom sound system in my truck, the bass is a little weak, but a sub would solve that real easy.

Bose also has the imaging thing down pat and the "up front bass" (what little there is) is decent.

Have you tried slow rolling a spinner bait in about 12` of water? I prefer chartreuse with a two gold blades, and depending on the basses mood, you may need a pork trailer. In the early morning I`d try a top water in shallow water. That should get you more bass.

Could you name "most" of them then as my experiences very few have pre outs from the factory and Bose systems are typically impednace matched amps and speaker systems that can be a pain to add to. It can be done, but sometimes it`s easier to go with an aftermarket headunit, amps and speakers.

Actually its a 9 inch. Of course no one makes a 9` so I bought an 8` thinking that I should build a mount for the rear deck to place it so it wont fall through. But I think that just may make my problem worse, especially since the stock amp is so weak.

Alot of subs can work as free air. But yes, kickers 8" sub is free air. NO ONE makes a 9" sub. Tang-band makes a 6x9 sub, but not a round 9".

The sub I bought was an 8" MTX, but if Kicker definitley makes a sub thats meant to be used as free air then im investing in that one
