    how can you tell if a dressing is water or silicone based? would the info be found on the bottle somewhere?



    also, what are the pros & cons between water & silicone based dressings?

    Do you mean water based vs. petroleum distilate based? If so, the water based ones are usually milky white.
    A well-prepared surface will make any wax look good.

    Generally: read the label, if it mentions petroleum distillates or any other solvent (like acetone, mineral spirits, hexane, naptha...) it is probably a solvent based silicone dressing. These types of dressings also tend to be clear liquids.



    Water based dressings tend to be a milky-white type.
