I`ve been reading how some people will wait 24 hours before adding another layer of wax on their vehicle. I thought waxes don`t cross-link like polymers, therefore one wouldn`t have to wait because they don`t need to cure. I`m a little confused here.

This also confuses me, and do you have to wait 24hrs to top SG? And whats the waiting time on EX-P for layering? This would be a good thread for someone, that knows, to post cure times for all products.

For Sealants people recommend 12-24 hours before either adding a second coat of product or before topping to allow the polymers/cross linking/bonding to do its thing.

With Carnuba`s I dont think there is such a cure time, but some manufacters say that a additional coat 24 hours adds to the look, so there maybe something in it for carnubas too.

I have a vague memory of RonK saying a wax will take far longer than a sealant to fully cure on paint (all variable being equal)

I thought P21S Carnuba`s instructions specifically said not to let it sit or form a haze, but I`ll have to check later on...

For any type of sealant, it recommendd you need to wait atleast 12-24 hr before apply another layer. It`s an optional for that step.

As for carnub wax, I do WOWO, I dont wait at all.

I think the cure time concept for carnauba comes from the fact that what you spread on your car has a high percentage of solvents. Until they evaporate fully from the layer that sticks to the paint, the LSP layer is at risk of being dissolved by application of more fresh (read: high-solvent) wax. This would explain why people report results with the "spit-shine" methode (existing layer is protected from the solvents of the new layer).

I believe this is the reason many others believe that "layering" carnauba wax is pointless.

Haven`t (yet) tested any of this out, however; this is just my inference from reading here...
