For those who expressed an interest in this 61 VW Beetle with only 36k on it which had been parked under a shed since 1970, here are the latest pics (preceded by some earlier ones). Yesterday after making it mechanically sound, my son spent 8 hours with clay, a PC, and various cleaners, then topped with Z-2 and Z-6. Detailing time was limited as he is leaving today to drive it back to Rhode Island from N.C. He plans to continue the restoration there.

How did the interior come out? I know you were having some problems with that. So the paint was actually ok? Those areas that appeared to be rusted seem to have cleaned up, although the running boards look a little...soiled I guess would be the word.

That is $^&#($% incredible! Fantastic! Fabulous!

What a gem you have. Your son must enter that into some shows and be sure to have the pictures sitting around. I am amazed that it turned out so well. Cheers to you and your son for having the will and ability to get that VW into such good shape. Simply awesome.

That is AMAZING. How did you know the paint was still in good enough condition to be cleaned and polished?

In that closeup of the speedo, are those fuses visible on the lower edge of the dash?

    Wow, that is something.

What `various cleaners` were used to polish out the paint?

have you done any research on that particular car? I hear the wolfsburg edition is desirable, the one with the wolf and castle on the horn button... But I don`t know jack about beetles.
