Last week I washed my truck and its new chrome rims but I kept noticing tiny scratches in the chrome. I was using a bucket of water and a sheepskin wash mitt and I noticed a few tiny scratches in the chrome, so I tried using a MF towel with the bucket of water and still I saw some micro scratches.

I doubt there was anything trapped in the towel but I suppose there could have been. Is there any safer way to clean chrome rims?

Might want to try a boar`s hair wheel brush. The scratches may have been there already. You can probably polish the scratches out with a good chrome polish.
