    From my experience, this "preemptive" method is also a good idea. Although I don`t use Autoglym (though I plan to do so soon, Lowejackson, since my local Autobacs now carries the whole line!), dressing any plastic trim ahead of time does help in preventing it.

    That sounds like a great idea, simple yet effective! I usually use a (locally made) white plastic eraser when necessary. I think I`ll try that next time (except for the dressing, which I usually apply ahead of time). Thanks for the tip!
