It is a good idea to do this with every product? Its almost impossible to load the entire pad and if it was dry and came in contact with the paint wouldn`t it cause marring or swirls.

The dry pad shouldn`t come in contact with the paint. The product is what lubricates the pad surface. If your dry pad is contacting the paint, you need to add more product to the pad.

I have primed the pad with water or QD with every product I`ve used on my car. It worked fine with or without water/QD.

there is know way you can lubricate the entire 6" pad. You would have to use a TON of the product. I will probably mist it with either or when I do my car Tuesday.

When you apply the product to the pad, form an X across the pad surface. When you put the pad on the surface and turn it on, the product will spread around and contact the entire pad surface.

I find that it all depends on the product. Some products are very thin and prime the pad very quickly without any type of extra help. On the other hand, some are extremely thick and need to be helped along. Regardless, whenever you find that you neeed to mist the pad with anything, only use water. QD`s don`t always agree with the product you are using and can have an adverse effect on the main product.

Yes, right now I do everything by hand. The products that I`ve used so far I applied a little bit of QD.
