    Dark-red 2014 Ford Fusion (detail & correction)

Here’s a 2014 Ford Fusion that was in dire need of a detail and some spot correction. Unfortunately I was pressed for time and didn’t have a chance to do everything (exterior only). I managed to get this detail done in about 4.5 hours…

    Process:
    · Pressure rinse (a lot of leafs and stuff in the cracks and crevasses)
    · Foam lance (4oz Mr. Pink)
    · Rinse (inspect)
    · 4 bucket wash (2x 4oz Mr. Pink)
    · Flood rinse (took note of scratches)
    · Iron-X (iron decontamination rinsed after 5-7mins, broke clay towel in on windows)
    · APC’ed the wheels (after Iron-X dwelled/rinsed)
    · Tarminator (where needed while I waited for products to dwell)
    · Clayed with alternative fine towel (wiped dry with WW towels)
    · DA spot compound (I only focused on the worse spots)
    · LSP sealant/wax (applied by DA)

    Products used:
    · CG Mr. Pink
    · CarPro Iron-X
    · Tarminator
    · Meg’s D101 APC
    · Autoscrub towel fine
    · Ultima Waterless Wash Plus
    · PC-7424xp DA
    · Hydro-Tech pads (1x 5.5 inch crimson, 1x 5.5inch cyan, 1x 4inch cyan)
    · Meg’s M101 Compound
    · Collinite 845

    Arrival:

    Foam lance time:

Post 2 bucket (paint rinse bucket):

Iron-X (I sprayed a good amount expecting lots of contamination but not the case):

Good job in the short period of time. The only thing I`d ask is do you think M101 is a bit aggressive without following up with something else? Unless you`re planning on following it up later.

    Thanks.

I find M101 finishes really nicely on this paint, as you can see in the correction pictures of the pillars and paint (pillars also done with M101). I didn’t notice any improvement with a follow up polish in my test spot (maybe my eyes are bad or I chose a bad test spot).

I didn’t have time to correct the entire car` swirls just the scratches and a bit around them. Knowing I was pressed for time and itching to use the cyan hydro-tech pads I bought months ago, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to get my tempo up a bit and use something more aggressive and see how it finished down. I was satisfied with the results and pushed on to LSP.

Going aggressive worked although I don’t think Collinite was the right choice, as its lacking flake pop (flakes seen in flash shots, only).

Great work! That color is really sharp.

Just reminds me how much I don`t like Ford paint. Terrible orange peel, not all the jambs or engine bay color coated just left primer, and chips looking at it.

    Dark-red 2014 Ford Fusion (detail & correction)

I just finished a complete detail.

    2 bucket wash
    Pressure rinse
M101 with my PC on 4 and 5-6 on my difficult areas with enough pressure to just slow down.
Frustratingly spend next hour getting rid of dust!
Top with BFD and polish off after an hour.
Let sit for rest of day and use Petes 53 wear next day.
Let wax sit 2 hours and buff off.
    Final inspection
    Done!
I worked my way up from MUP with poor results as this car was dealer washed for a year with plenty of swirls and spiders, and a few scratches.
Wheel wax on wheels and ulitma trim guard
    on.... trim.
I had to waterless wash the whole car between applications as it sits outside.
M101 worked best with orange LC pad.
I should have had this in my arsenal in the beginning.
