I have come to the conclusion that I am in NEED of a Porter Cable 7424 and have begun the search online to find that highly sought after "lowest price":up

I have found some for sale on reputable sites, your Amazon`s and what not, but there is a place in California that sells them for $109.

Am I getting a real one for that price or will it be a "Poker Cable" with large "Made in somewhere you`ve never heard of" sticker?

Should I buy direcly from Porter, or keep looking?

    Thank you for your feedback.

    NewOwner FL,

Before you discount the Coastal Tool unit at $119+freight, determine what you are going to do about pads. The Coastal unit`s price includes:

    6" Hook & Loop Contour Pad #18002

    6" Counterweight

Unless you are going to be using smaller pads you will need to factor in the cost to add both of those items. Plus, of course, the sales tax that you will pay at your local Lowes.

i got mine from www.properautocare.com just because i was placing a big order with them, and didn`t want to have to order from another vendor. and i got a pad and plate kit from excel detail. i tried to find one at my lowe`s here but they didn`t have the 7424.

What Lowe`s? My local Lowe`s doesn`t stock them. They stock that crappy Global Machinery Corp. knockoff. Neither Lowe`s.com nor HomeDepot.com shows them in inventory either.

I bought mine plus the kit when it was on sale in the autopia store for $179.99. I know I could have found the PC and pads for a bit less but I wanted to support the board.

    Contact this guy. vdog0531

He`s a member here. I saw that he had a 7424 for sale in his sig.

Other than that, I got mine at Coastal. Some Lowe`s stock the 7336 (same machine as the 7424 but with a different counterweight) for $99. My local Lowe`s (and every other one in Oklahoma) does not even show the 7336 as a valid part number.

    Going back a few posts...

Lowes stocks the 7336 and can order the 7424 into the store. The 7336 is $99 on the shelf, but to order in a 7424 will run you $149.

I purchased the $99 7336 in the store and used the money saved to place an order for some Sonus pads from BCC.

Your better off with the 7336. The only difference between the 7336 and 7424 is the counterweight and included pad. The 7336 has the 6" counterweight which has been reported to create less vibrations. Just get yourself a BP/Pad kit and your good to go.
