    Reading about what others say about their own techniques about cleaning carpets, they all seem to say rinse with water after shampooing. How much is too much water??

    Assuming that you are using the shop vac method...



    Generally, the carpet should be damp enough to thoroughly rinse and remove whatever is there, but it should not be anywhere near soaked.



    As little as possible to get the job done, IMO.
