Step-by-step paint defect repair with photos?

I have never tried to fix minor paint defects such as oxidizing paint, small scratches, or swirls using compounds, glaze, a Porter Cable, polish, and so forth. Can somobody please post pictures step-by-step of the way the area being fixed will look like? I remember once my Dad`s car was getting a scratch removed, and the whole process looked like it would never turn out the way it did (the marks all over the paint from the products being used were all dull-looking, for example). With these pictures, I can compare them with my own progress (on junky, PRACTICE cars) to make sure that I am on the right track to being capable of fixing these types of problems. Please also mention the products used during the process. Thanks a million!!

Yeah, guy..... you basically just asked us to re-post the entire contents of this community into your thread. I`d have to say that instead of wanting them laid out for you, you might want to try reading the forums and searching.

Keep in mind that there is no "ONE" answer and no "ULTIMATE" scenario when it comes to paint defects and products/methods. Each vehicle is unique with how it has been treated and what it has been subjected to prior to detailing. It takes practice to be able to deal with it effectively, but that`s what the community is all about. Just remember, the first rule of detailing, and doing the job right, is PATIENCE, PRACTICE, and PERSERVERENCE coupled with quality research and evaluation of what works best for YOU.

Like I said in the beginning, I have read the downloadable autopia guide to detailing, many times, but I feel most comfortable seeing the process actually taking place. Nevertheless, I can`t wait to see those meguires videos! I guess I will just wait till late April/May to attend the free two-day event that an autopia member will be hosting in my area all about helping people like me learn the trade of professional detailing.
