A friend is wanting to pay me to do her 99 lexus gs300, however i have never really detailed a light color metallic car before. The closest I have come is white. Anyhow, here are the products available:

    #26

    S100

    AIO

    Glanz Wax

    NXt

    and possibly #16

anyhow, help me decide what to do. What combos or products would make it look its best? Thanks.

AIO+S100 or P21S will look great.

You may also want to do Pinnacle Signature as well but it`s not on the list.

I don`t know any Megs #`s but I have a melange (tan) metallic Audi.

I would use clay (a must). You can get at autopia or a car parts store. Then use AIO. Then P21S or S100, same stuff, but I like that paste better.

Maybe a paint cleaner or light polish before aio will give it more shine and longer lasting shine.

What condition is the car in?

Actually, based on what you have, it doesn`t really matter...

Do you have a PC, or is this by hand?

I`d go with AIO, until the paint looks as good as you can get it. 2, maybe 3 coats.

Then I`d hit it with Glanz. I`ve seen that color, and it`s pretty light and metallic, so I`d use one of the sealants over the carnuaba`s. The color is so light that you`re not gonna get too many reflections out of it anyway, so ya might as well make it super shiny and get the metal flake to pop...

NXT would work better if the cars finish is all swirly after the AIO, because it has fillers in it, but the slickness and beading wear off quickly, and that hurts, unless you`re going to be doing it all the time..

So yeah.. Prep it as much as you need to with AIO, and then hit it up with Glanz...

Thanks, I`m not sure what I am going to use for sure right now, but the car has light swirling and slight oxidation in places. in my cabinet I have

    1z UP

    1z PP

    1z MP

    Sonüs SFX-1

    Sonüs SFX-2

    Meguiars Color X

    Meguiars #85

    AIO

    SG

    VM

    Clay Magic clay

and about 10 different cleaner waxes, and again I listed the waxes. I also should have some Signature on the way. I will be using a PC, but also have a dewalt rotary for anything major. :up

It sounds like you`ve got a good combo for that color with 1ZPP, 1ZMP and then GW. It`s durable and looks good on metallics, IMO.

i`d say Wolfgang or Tropicare- warmish toned and shouldn`t be too reflective on a light color

Of the product you mentioned, AIO sounds like a good bet to begin with, folllowed by something of your choice for a final topper. I personally like Blackfire on lighter colors (I`ve used it on white and gold with good results).

    Beautiful...

Isn`t it sick how you can think of a color in your head, and then think of a product that would make it stand out?

I`ve never tried Glanz on that color, but in my head I just knew it would look awesome, and that picture is exactly what I was thinking....

I need to get out more...
