Need some help here & a little nervous.

I`m using Zaino for the first time on my new baby, an 05 Altima SE.

Here`s what I believe I`m supposed to do:

    -Wash with Dawn & Dry

-*Clay if necessary with QD & Wash again.

    -ZFX(1 or 2 drops) with Z2 pro (2 OZs).

    -Remove using a linear motion.

*additional coats?... use ZFX / Z2 Pro combo again (up to 3 total coats in 24 hrs).

    Are these steps accurate?

    Anything else I left out?

    Any tips?

Also in a month or 2 if I feel like adding more coats can I just use Z2 Pro by itself without ZFX?

    Thanks in advance,

    Bruce

    I would definitely clay.

4 drops of ZFX for 1 oz. - don`t use more than 1 oz. - it will do 3 coats.

    ZaneO,

    Thanks for the quick reply!

    4 drops of ZFX to 1oz Z2Pro?

    Why 4 drops of ZFX?

Are you going to prep/polish first ? (other than clay)

    Just a suggestion.

I like to use a paint cleaner like Klasse AIO or Menzerna Final Polish.

    4 drops per the instructions.

    Wouldn`t a paint cleaner be a bit "abrasive" ?

Also, I don`t have access to products like the ones you listed ZaneO, reccomend any others?

    i. dawn isn`t *really* necessary - especially if you have never had anything on it before. A good chemical cleaner should do the job (eg. Klasse AIO) and will also leave a great base for Zaino. I`m one of those who is hesitant to use a dishwashing liquid on my car if there are alternatives.

ii. you would want a clay, at least once only now before zaino goes on for the first time. Not really necessary to use QD as clay lube -- ($$!) -- If you have Z7, use a couple tiny gops of that, mix with water in a small gardening spray bottle and use that as your lube.

iii. 2 oz is WAYYYY too much Z2 for one coat! would be more like 1/2-1 oz

    Thanks Col!

Unfortunately I don`t have AIO to use.

So I guess I`ll just have to use Dawn to remove the dealership`s QD wax that they put on her while I was doing the paperwork.

Those paint cleaners aren`t too abrasive.

I would highly recommend ordering some Klass AIO.

I`d second the suggestion to clay. And I`d go ahead and use the Dawn. Just don`t get in a habit of it. Also, as I understand it, apply it in linear motion front to back on top panels and top to bottom on side panels. Take it off however is easiest.

After an initial coat of Z2 Pro with ZFX I believe you can apply it straight out of the bottle for additional coats. That`s what I`ve done with no noticable problems.

Also I didn`t notice any mention of Z6 between coats. That`s not a requirement I guess but it does serve two purposes 1. brings out the shine 2. gives you an opportunity to make sure you`ve got all the Z2 Pro off. I do Z6 between coats and last.

It`s not going to take a month or two for you to feel like adding more coats....you`ll start putting on a coat whenever you find 20 - 30 minutes spare time.

Eventually you`ll need to start thinking about polishing and getting your paint surface as perfect as possible prior to Zaino app. But for now, IMHO, clean it, clay it and get the Z2 Pro on it. Get ready to get hooked!!

    later,

Vidiot, if a dealer has QD-d it, there is a serious chance that they`ve introduced swirls to the paint.

Check up rather twice, clay, and just in case, don`t afraid to use abrasive cleaners! BTW AIO is non-abrasive, but has very good cleaning power. And of course it will take off the QD.

BUT! Acrylics & polymers will highlight the (possible) swirls. Use Zaino only on perfectly prepped finish! The fact that the Altima is new does not count...

IMO. If you have a PC, treat yourself and clay, then polish using a fine polish prior to sealing.... you will love it !:bounce
Prep is everything .. The rest is the window looking in....

I disagree with that statement. I have plenty of first hand experience that AIO has abrasives.
