    Hey guys.

I have a car due for and the hood is discolored with dark splotches and light areas all around. This I suppose is from waxing in the sun (that is what she told me she did a few years back), so Im just wondering if there is any way around the blemeshes or any way to cover it up.

Let me know what you guys think. ~the clearcoat is failing in some spots too,but its weird...only small dime sized circles in a few spots.

If it was from waxing, it should`ve worn off within months, and it would`ve definitely disappeared within a few years. What color is the car? What year and what make is it? Are you able to get a picture of the splotching?

You can first try a light polish or scratch remover, like scratch-x. It`s hard to say without more info.

P.s., from your gallery, it looks like you live on twin peaks?

From your other posts it looks like you have products that others would try to use to get rid of the splotching, short of using a rotary.

I`m in daly city. my name is pretty common; as of about five years ago, there were 13 of us registered for san francisco library cards (which makes me a little less worried about having my name on the web, but still I now regret not originally choosing an actual screen name). i`m 24 so i probably didn`t go to school with you. Where are you going to school right now?

I`m at college of san mateo =), are you out of college already?

Yea, Im going to have a try at it with some ssr, but I think its going to have to wait- Just got my car looked at and I need new upper/lower control arms, swar bar links and maybe new shock (if i do, im upgrading!). So I think I will be on the low side of money for now. What car do you drive anyways?

Oil stains? - Would one just polish like regular to remove?

I graduated college in 2002. Right now I`m doing neurobiology research at UCSF and will apply to dental school pretty soon.

I wonder how people here would feel about trying some form of APC if it really is an oil stain.. I have no experience with this, unfortunately.

Sounds to me like the basecoat is oxidizing underneath the failing clear coat.

Oh yeah, from the wax picking up oil and dirt. Start with clay, then sonus paint cleaner, then Sonus SFX2 polish, then go to SFX3 for ultimate shine after #2 removes it, then AIO, then SG, then P21S.

The SFX#2 will remove it. I`ve done a car with this. The guy bought it like it. I told him I could remove it and I succeded. Claying helps alot, but the polish will restore the shine.

Very cool. I plan on using the ssr line tho. probly start out with 2, maybe 1...with either yellow or white pads. Top off with AIO and SG x 2 and maybe a carnauba top...Its actually my gf`s moms car =).

If you look, you can see white splotches. those are spots where the clear coat is cracking. The dark spots really are not as dark as the picture has it...and that line going accross is just a shadow.
