I`ve bought the PC pack from autopia along with some extra pads etc and it all arrived *very* fast (im in australia). Very impressed with this side of things.

I have a new black subaru, and this is the process i followed

    Wash - NXT

Clay - Didn`t really need it so i just did 1 or 2 problem areas

    Meg swirl remover 2.0 #9 - polish in/out - Green pad

    AIO - polish in/out - Blue pad

Megs Sealant, polish in/out - Blue pad

NXT Wax, in/polish out. - Blue pad.

Everything is all clean and shiney and looks ok, though im not really all that impressed. Perhaps im just 2 fussy. I`ll put up pics tonight to give an idea. I was after more of a depth look, have I used the wrong products? Is there anything in particlar that really helps black?

The bufferbonets in the pack seemed to clog up fast and really not do the best job. I had them pulled over the original foam pad that comes with the PC, is this the correct method?

All up it took me 8 hours, so that alone suggest im doing something wrong

    Any suggestions welcome.

    8 hours is normal.

Did you let the sealent cure for 24 hours before the nxt?

The nxt also maybe have removed some of the sealent anyhow, it has a little cleaner in it, or cleaning ability.

Try topping it with a good caranuba, or try the Adams detail spray(not sure of the exact name), i am reading that it gives incredible shine.

Another thing, did you detail the whole exterior?

Sometimes if my finish is just done, it still looks like crap if the tires and trim are dull. Any the windows, if they have a couple waterspots here and there, the paint looks like crap to me lol, i dont know why.

Another thing I`ve noticed about using NXT Tech Wax is that it looks a lot better the next day after application.

Hey what`s up. A few things I would hav done diff would have been,

Most of the products you have chosen have cleaners or fillers in them. Up until the Swirl remover you are OK. But as soon as you put the AIO on after it will remove some of the fillers in the SMR. And the swirls will show up again. If you had a pure wax or sealer (no cleaners ) Right after the SMR would be the time to put it on. If you use a quality pure sealer like the poorboys or a pure wax like P21s you will have a good depth of shine. If I was using the products you have I would wash, clay, and use the AIO. Being a new car the swirls should not be that bad and the AIO could help reduce them. Or I would wash, clay, and use the NXT. NXT also will help reduce minor swirls. The chmicals you have are all awsome in very different ways, and unfortunatly will cross most of each other out. If I was you teh steps I would follow if you like the AIO would be

    -Wash

    -Clay

-Remove swirls (Using a Swirl remover with no fillers)( Like Poorboys SSR1)

    -Apply AIO

-Apply pure sealant(no cleaners in it)(Like Klasse SG or Poorboys)

If you like the NXT I would

    -Wash

    -Clay

-Remove swirls with a SMR with no fillers (like Poorboys SSR1)

    -NXT

    Hope this helps a bit.

Meguiars #16 or #26 would add noticable depth. I also greatly prefer #80 instead of #9 on dark paint since it leaves a very deep wet look on its own.

If you want it to look better maybe you should try something made for dark paint, like Pinnacle Souveran.

Menzerna and the 3m polishes are other filler free brands. Try to truly remove as many defects as possible with the PC then go with your sealant and wax
Treat it like it`s the only one in the world.

My guess is the problem here comes from the process used to polish out all the way back at the SMR step. In my experience the usual reason for being unsatisfied with the end result is that the polishing wasn`t done to a fine enough point.

Hey guys, thanks for the replys.

Is does look slightly better now that its been on for a day+...

I`ve attached a pic to give a better idea. As you can see the reflection is kind of blocky, rather than some of the `mirror like` 1s ive seen on other black cars...

    Picture is here

The sealant we have here in AU, is close to #20 i think. Theres no offical # for it like you have there.

I guess the problem is with my product selection and process. Looks like i`ll be trying something another plan, just as soon as my hands heal
