What are some of the products you guys use on chrome?

I think you can`t use regular wax and polish (Menzerna) on metallic trim, true?

AIO is the best thing I`ve found for chrome.

Do you mean chrome like chrome rims, or do you mean chrome trim like the plastic with a chrome looking backing? For chrome tim I use AIO and then SG. I am going to have to let some one with a little more experience answer about using an abrasive polish on the trim. AIO is a chemical cleaner.

For chrome I have used all kinds of things, AIO and SG, Mothers polish, Flitz polish.
    Insert witty quip here...

I have never found chrome to be too finicky about what I use on it.

If you`re gonna use a "chrome polish", make sure it`s not too abrasive. Griot`s and Mother`s make good ones.

I`ve used mild paint polishes to clean chrome. Chrome plating is harder than paint, so they don`t hurt it any as long as you don`t abrade it all the time.

I`ve used the K twins on both "real chrome" and "chrome over plastic". I`ve used liquid and paste waxes on chrome with no problems.

Note that I`ve been doing the chrome on the XJS for almost 20 years, so I`d have found out if any of these approaches were gonna cause trouble. It does have some thin spots on the door handles, where the combination of being hit with a polisher pad and normal use has thinned the plating, but it took a *long* time for that to happen. None of the plating has "failed" or discolored from using the wrong products on it or anything like that.

For chrome trim that is in relatively good condition, I like to use carnauba wax. Of course, if the trim needs a slight cleaning, such as the front chrome grill trim, then I would use a cleaner polish first, followed by a coat of carnauba wax.
