....do you know if the factory wheels are clearcoated?
Also, what`s with the lack of bodyside molding? Looks like door-ding city!

I am not an owner, but have detailed my share. The wheels are clearcoted.
I like the lack of molding, but you are right door ding city for sure!!
DACP, #80 LS
Yikes! Sounds like a car to do the 5 mile round trip parking lot hike from
Treat it like it`s the only one in the world.

Hmmm....then what`s this silver stuff that`s coming off on my pads?
I have an RSX and I would say that they are NOT clearcoated, but have yet to polish them. I reall dunnno.
I have a TSX and my wheels have a clear coat.
Sorry, I didn`t see your post. I have detailed four of them and ALL of the wheels have been clear coated.
Perhaps some of the models came without clear. Could someone have painted yours? :nixweiss
When you apply a cleaner wax to them, do you get silver paint transfer? I know that I used #20 on all of the wheels that I detailed which is definitely strong enough to cause paint transfer and I got no transfer. On a few of them I even used an acid based wheel cleaner. There was no flash oxidation and no ill effects from the wheel cleaner.
This car sat on the dealer lot for 1.5 years...when I got it I did the FK decon, only used step 1 on the wheels, then hit them with Pb`s PP...which got me a silver MF...which I also got with the first layer of EX-P.
My guess is that the wheels were in less than stellar condition when the car was traded to the dealer. They used rattle can silver to paint the wheels in order to cover up any blemishes. Very common practice in dealerships on abused silver wheels. I would bet that if you used enough polish to remove the paint you might get to clear. :nixweiss
No, no, no! This car is new, it was a leftover! 98 miles on the clock when I got it.

Back to square one then, maybe I got the only four with cleared wheels.
Well, it`s puzzling me, too, that`s why I started this thread. The casting is very grainy; the wheels definitely don`t have a high gloss appearance, particularly on the spokes.
my wheels are clear coated, any my car is a 2004 rsx-s. and you`re right about door dings... the side molding is an additional cost... rather not have it anyway... poor doors though.
Mine is a 2003 non-S...I think the wheels are identical though...hopefully it was just some sliver dirt that I was getting off....
