Using damp cloth to remove excess Lexol Conditioner?

I used the Lexol cleaner to clean the leather seats, followed by the Protectant. However, after using and wiping off the protectant with a dry cloth like the instructions said, there was clearly residue left over (streaks and product build-up). I could not remove it by hand with a dry cloth. So I tried going over it with a damp cloth and drying it. This seemed to clear it up.



So, have I removed the protectant when I did this wet-wipe step? What if anything went wrong with the original application (put too much product, let it dry too long, wrong application, wrong product...)? Or is this a normal way to remove the excess product?

I noticed streaking when using a paper towel to apply the Lexol. Using a slightly damp cloth-covered sponge applicator solved that problem for me.

Sometimes with leather conditioners you will find some streakiness. A damp towel may wipe some of the protectant off. Usually the streakiness will disiappear by leaving it along for an hour or two or you can reaply the product and working it in a little better.
