I have really been dissapointed with the Quick Detailers that I have come across to date. One is Meguires and the second is the new Turtle Wax stuff. I don`t know why they have quick written on either of them. They streak, take for ever to get off, and don`t spread nicely.

Can anyone recommend a Quick Detailer that actually lives up to its name. Also if you can tell me where to get it in Canada.

    Thanks

Zaino Z6 is my favorite, and I`ve heard ClearKote`s Quikshine is a little better, but I haven`t tried it.

Which Mequire`s QD did you use?

I use the one that`s over-the-counter (the red one - I forgot its name). Worked quite well for me.

I am also using Z6, Crystal Mist, and Clearkote.

I really like Z6 and Crystal Mist. Clearkote is a bit peculiar

for me. It seems to act like glorified water - may be

I am misled by its lack of frangrant .

I still have almost a gallon left.

I use a MF towel and just lightly mist the panel and wipe it on and with another MF polish it off if any left .

I use Mothers for waxed surfaces and Z6 for my Zaino panels. Both work great for me. Just don`t spray too much on.

Also, do you use a QD as a wax substitute? A lot of relative newbies use a QD as a "spray wax" and it usually smears on non-waxed surfaces.

I have a couple of favorites.

Wax -- Poorboys QD+ , Pinnacle Crystal Mist

    Sealant -- Z6, Sonus

and I also really like Wolfgangs "updated" QD. It seems like water also, but seems to up the reflection on either wax or sealant. Im just hoping it contains a UV inhibitor, which is the biggest benefit to all these QD`s.

The surface is waxed so no I`m not using it as a wax. I can`t imagine that would too effective. I guess I`ll look into the Z6.

    Thanks

A common mistake is to apply product too close to the surface, and apply too much of it.

I`d suggest 12-15" away from the paint surface, and fanning the bottle left to right as you squeeze the trigger - this distributes the product over a wider area, and prevent too much of it from being on the paint.

If it takes more than 2 swipes (one direction, then turn the towel over and wipe back), you`ve likely used too much.

Also, using thin towels, t-shirts, etc., is not a good idea. Once a towel loads up with product, it will leave streaks.

A good quality microfiber is your best bet. On hot surfaces, the smaller the area you work, the less streaking you will have.

    Hope this helps.

I`ve used the megs QD and I tought it was OK, since it was the only QD I`ve used. Well, last weekend I`ve tried mothers QD and it`s like Night and day. With megs I had to mist the panels a lot to get any sort of lubrications. With mothers I`ve sprayed a lot less on the panels and MF was just sliding every where with ease, it was extreamly slick. Also there was a lot of smearing because what I taught was a little was actually too much.

It lifts the drit with ease as well, I highly recomend it, I`m going to order a gallon of it.

Now the problem is what am I going to do with my second bottle of Megs QD, it`s unoppened and I don`t feel like using it, any takers in sydney?

I`ve got Mother`s Showtime QD on mine now and I`m real happy with it. Works great. Smells great.

I also like Sonus Acrylic Spritz (on top of Klasse SG) and Eagle One Wet Wipe & Shine (widely available).

As already posted, I would use a good quality MF towel , rather than cotton.

    Mother`s Showtime :bounce

Do what forrest says and you`ll get great results. Try to avoid spraying QD when the surface is hot.
