My friend had some overspray on his jetta`s front lower grills, so he found a scouring pad from around the house and some water and scrubbed the grill. the paint came off but after it dried it had a white rough residue to it. What would you recommend to fix this, beside`s replacing the grill? I told him to try some SSR2 w/ a MF and try to polish it, but wanted some more insight before I tell him to go thru w/ it.

    thanks for the help.

    Scouring pad on his grille?!

I say repaint. Polishing it is probably a lost cause due to the texture.

    Next time, try clay.

    Good Luck.

He tried clay and SSR 2.5 last time we detailed the cars at my house and got no where, but I guess he got bored and tried using a household item to get rid of the overspray. He doesn`t have a computer anymore so I`m forced to ask the questions for him. You know the lil black inserts that go on the lower side`s of a jetta`s bumper, those are the grills I`m talking about. I also told him to repaint w/ some matte black or soft gloss black paint. I haven`t seen the damage so I don`t know how bad it is, but from his voice he sounds a lil ticked at himself. I told him if your not gonna use something on your paint then definitely don`t use it on your plastic.

well thanks for the help, if anyone else has any tips feel free to post.
