The time has come where I must figure on whether or not I will post my company in the yellow pages. It is about $50 dollars a month? I guess I question is it worth it and will it generate calls? What do those of you who are listed think? Is it a necessity for any business? I have a cell phone as my business line therefore I don`t get the free listing.

It is worth it. I have a business line so it is included in my monthly bill. When I first started out, I had a 3 line insert ad, but it kept going up in price every year. I finally dropped the insert ad since I am only one of 3 listed mobile detailers in Arlington and my business name makes it obvious I am mobile so those looking specifially for a mobile detailer will be able to figure it out with just a listing.

First few years though, if you can afford it, a small 2-3 line insert ad (it is in the actual listings but instead of just name and number, you can add a couple lines) is worth it to help build your client base.

I have the same situation... yeah, you pretty much need the listing, but...

I get many `shoppers`, looking for price. You won`t be surpried that word of mouth is still the best form of advertising.

Forget it. 99% of your business will come from word of mouth, not the phone book.

Yea detailers seem to come and go with the season. When I called the numbers listed under detailing in our yellow pages over 1/2 the numbers were no good. It is a business that people have to able to mange themselves and money. Having only been in business for myself for over 6 months I think the add will be helpful, especailly with having ordered a new mobile rig. What sucks is now there is the REAL yellow pages and BellSouth phone books.
