I just bought a PC from Coastal Tool with Bonus Kit (including hook and loop backing pad and 6" counterwight).

I read that since the hook and loop backing plate is velcro I don`t need a backing plate, just velco backed pads. Is this true?

It would save some money. THANKS!

I just ordered one today myself from there. But on a previous order I picked up a 5" flexible backing plate to go with it.I don`t see why you couldn`t use the one that comes with the kit for now.

I use the PC backing plate all the time(I ordered mine from coastal tool as well).

I would say that for someone who is just learning to use the PC it may be better to start with a smaller BP like the meguiars BP. The PC BP has more potential, because of its` size to come into contact with paint. I have never had a problem, but just something to think about.

It is a velcro backing plate, correct?

AND what pads do you use with it?

    Thanks!

    Yes, velcro.

I use the 6.5" Meguiars pads, most commonly the yellow polishing pad.
