Just got a new 2004 Acura TL (silver). Had Ziebart put a Diamond Gloss coating on. Despite some of the horror stories I`ve seen in posts here, the shop here in AA did a pretty good job and for the most part, I`m happy with the job.

Question: can a polymer sealant like Z or Wolfgang be put on top of it or do I have to strip everything first?

I ask because even though I`m happy with the DG coating (nothing seems to stick and very easy to clean), I want more `depth` to the paint and I think Wolfgang would give me that. Not sure about Z.

Any and all advice is appreciated.

Just read the posting rules and saw that newbies (sorry, `Apprentices`) are supposed to post in AU forum.

    Sorry for any inconvenience.

    Mods: please move thread. Thx.

It looks really good IMHO. It would be best to strip it off if you are going with Z (although Z is not very deep or wet, just really shiny) or WG .

I would top the stuff on there now with something like S100 or mother`s pure carn. wax.

Thanks, LJ. I`m surprised it looks that decent actually since it`s almost 7 weeks now since the DG coat went on and a lot of people rag on DG.

Thanks for the suggestion. I used S100 on my old Accord and loved it but for some reason, never considered putting it on top of the DG.

I went with the DG since detailing my Accord just sucked up too much time.

What I really want is to find a detailer in AA who will prep and Wolfgang my car.

If you get a detailer to prep and Wolfgang your car, won`t that just remove the Diamond Gloss you just paid for? The DG won`t stand up to the prep work I am fairly certain.

Why not just top it with some Souveren? That would make it look about as wet as anything, although isn`t it tough to make silver look deep, since it is such a reflective color?

I too doubt that DG would stand up to prep. However, since the car was prepped pretty good prior to DG (paint is smooth as glass, no need for clay or polishing, IMHO), I just wondered if any poly sealants would bond to the DG coating.

That being said, if I find a good detailer near AA that`s willing to do the work, I wouldn`t mind losing the DG if the prep`s done right and the sealant`s good.

It is tough to make silver look deep but I saw Anthony Orosco`s job on a silver benzo (clk600, I think) and I started drooling.
