Picking up a new car and BMW dealer is offering a "Touch of Class" service; selaing clearcoat, undercoat, "scotchguard" like protection to leather, rugs, on and on. 5 year warranty eg. if they can`t clean a stain on leather they will replace the seat in car.

$500 bucks. Is it worth it? Will they mess up car finish?

I would get the details for the warranty. But for my money, not worth it. They are just trying to feed off customers.

Frank-DACP and folded terry cloth towels will remove light to moderate swirls. Follow with SFP, glaze and wax and you can remove the swirls.

    This was by hand:

This is just after all polishing steps, no wax. Took me a little over 2 hours to work the paint by hand.

I would stay away from any exterior service the dealer offers. It is usually overpriced and overhyped. With a little knowledge you can do a whole lot better than the dealer ever can.

is that a permanent fix or will the swirls come back? in other words, are the swirl scratches just temporarily filled-in or actually removed?

    Scott, wow!!!

    And Peterjc,

Don`t let the dealer touch your car. You can do a much better job yourself for a lot less.

They are gone. DACP does cut paint and the swirls weren`t very deep.

I picked the car up today and declined the offer from BMW for their Touch of Class service.

It will be up to me.

Dealer said to wait 60 days before doing any work on exterior of car. Paint etc needed to cure.

    Does that make sense?

Dealers never learn , the paint on your Beamer is probally close to 60-90 days old already. You can start working on it asap , which is highly recommended the sooner you get it protected the longer it will stay that way. So what color and model did you get?

    PeterJC...

I agree with detailbarn that it`s probably safe to start detailing your car. Check for the build date on the b-pillar.

I started on my 745Li the day I got it.

What do you think? They don`t want to wait 60 days to perform their `touch of swirls...I mean class` service, right?
